Montgomery County Council Re-Election Kickoff!
Democratic Primary: Tuesday, September 14, 2010
General Election: Tuesday, November 2, 2010
Dear friends & neighbors,
It is hard to believe that re-election time is already creeping up on us! But the last few months representing you at the Montgomery County Council have shown me how important it is to have a vigorous champion for District 4 and East County issues at the table. District 4 and East County are rich in beautiful neighborhoods and green spaces which I've fought to protect, but I've also begun the tough job of sending the message to the world that we are ready for high-quality jobs and amenities. Establishing this shared vision for our community will require the participation of our diverse residents, and I want all of you to be a part of determining the character, quality, and future of District 4. That's why I've reached out to many civic associations and residents already, and I have begun setting up youth and senior advisory committees. But this is just the first step.
In my time at the Council, I've worked with County Executive Ike Leggett to bring investment and improvements to Burtonsville, while minimizing negative impacts on the community. I am also working to revitalize and bring jobs and investment to Glenmont, White Oak and other communities in District 4. But I've done all of this while also voting to ensure we have greater resources available to create adequate school capacity and infrastructure for residents.
Every vote I've taken at the County Council can be traced back to my campaign pledge of "standing up for all of us." But while I'm so proud to have worked with all of you on getting us this far, there is so much more we can do together. I hope you will stay involved and stay in touch, both as I seek a full four-year term, and as I continue to represent you at the County Council. As we kickoff this re-election bid, I'm also pleased to announce the early endorsement from my colleagues, Councilmembers Valerie Ervin and Marc Elrich, but stay tuned for more endorsements coming soon.
Thanks again!
