It's Time to Roll Up Our Sleeves.

As we head into what promises to be an exciting and heated election season, it is clear that Montgomery County needs leaders who will embrace the new vision of leadership established by our President -- one that reaches out across the aisle and seeks to include young and old, rich and poor, business and labor, and people from all walks of life in our political process. I can promise you that as I do just that I will always stand up for all of our residents and put the people first. That's why I'm running for re-election as a Democrat for Montgomery County Council. I will fight day and night to:

Create Jobs & Bring Investment to Montgomery County:

  • Job Creation: Focus on moving Montgomery County forward by laying the groundwork for "green jobs" and by attracting new industries, such as biotech firms, to settle here and create new jobs -- especially in East County.
  • Smart Growth: Bring civic & business leaders together with residents from diverse backgrounds to create a consensus around livable communities & smart growth.
  • Green Transportation: Promote environmentally friendly mass transit and job creation through green infrastructure projects like the Purple Line & Corridor Cities Transitway.

Stand Up for All Of Us:

  • Budget Equity: Minimize the impact of any budget and services cuts on seniors, working families, and children.
  • Progressive Taxation: Fight to ensure state income taxes and property taxes do not benefit millionaires and corporations over average residents.
  • Quality Public Education: Protect Montgomery County's commitment to quality public education by working to close the achievement gap, expand pre-K, reduce class size, improve classroom technology and ensure we can recruit and retain the best teachers to prepare our children for the future.
  • Affordable Housing: Strengthen efforts to provide workforce and affordable housing for families and seniors living on a fixed income.
  • Health Care: Expand prescription drug coverage and extend basic health care access to uninsured county residents.

Tackle Tough Problems:

In my time at the Council, I've demonstrated my commitment to this agenda. In the last year, I've sponsored or supported bills, resolutions and efforts to:
