Progressive Maryland Endorses Nancy Navarro in MoCo Dist. 4 Councilmannic Special Democratic Primary Election
Silver Spring, MD.  Progressive Maryland today endorsed Nancy Navarro for Montgomery County Council in the District 4 Special Democratic Primary Election.
"There are a number of strong candidates in this race," said Sean Dobson, President of Progressive Maryland.  "But Nancy was the overwhelming choice of the Progressive Maryland board of directors because of her superb qualifications, stellar record on the School Board, and the quality of her questionnaire response.  She will make an outstanding new addition to the County Council."
Progressive Maryland is a statewide, nonprofit organization that advocates for working families.  It has 15,000 individual members as well as 35 organizations represented on its board of directors, including some of the strongest labor unions, civil rights groups, and faith communities in the state.  More info at www.ProgressiveMaryland.org

"Over the years, I have been fortunate to meet many smart, talented, and visionary leaders from all across our district. One such individual is Nancy Navarro. Her experience on the Montgomery County Board of Education and years of service in numerous volunteer roles throughout the County make Nancy an extremely well qualified candidate to become the next member of the Montgomery County Council. She embodies the critical qualities of proven leadership, understanding of the issues, integrity and progressive ideals that we need in our elected officials.  I am proud to offer Nancy Navarro my endorsement in her bid to join the Montgomery County Council succeeding Marilyn Praisner in her tremendous commitment to public
service." --Donna Edwards

"At the Board of Education, Nancy has always been willing to listen to the community and try new and exciting ways to engage all citizens on issues facing our community. She understands that you can't please all the people all the time, but she approaches her work determined to find workable solutions to tough challenges.” -- Gustavo Torres, Community Activist and District 4 Resident

“As a former District 20 delegate and long-term activist in Montgomery County politics, I know how critical it will be to find that leader that can continue Marilyn Praisner’s legacy on the Montgomery County Council. I can think of no other name than Nancy Navarro, President of the Board of Education. I have watched Nancy for several years; she gets it. As Councilmember, Nancy would be a formidable advocate for the needs of District 4.”--Hon. Gareth Murray

"Nancy is the mother of school-age children, and she knows what young families struggle with in Montgomery County. She's been engaged in neighborhood development issues, and she co-founded and ran her own nonprofit, so she knows what it means to meet a payroll and plan for sustaining an organization. I don't think we could find a better Councilmember for this district."--Hon. Valerie Ervin, Councimember, District 5
